With the aim of strengthening the international positioning of spirits from the region and opening new commercial opportunities, the Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT) participated in the presentation of the third edition of the Latin America World Spirits Competition, an international platform that promotes the evaluation, recognition, and global projection of spirits from Latin America.

As a representative of the tequila agroindustry, CNIT highlighted the importance of creating spaces that allow brands to showcase the quality of their products, strengthen their reputation, and expand their connections with stakeholders in other markets.

“International competitions go far beyond winning a medal: they are platforms that help make quality visible, build trust, and open new commercial opportunities for brands. For Tequila, they also represent an opportunity to highlight its origin and strengthen its international presence,” said Ana Cristina Villalpando Fonseca, Executive Director of the Cámara Nacional de la Industria Tequilera.

The 2027 edition will take place on April 22 and 23 in Jalisco, featuring different categories of spirits and brands of various sizes, from established producers to emerging projects.

For CNIT, Tequila’s participation in these types of international platforms contributes not only to recognizing the quality of brands, but also to communicating the attributes that distinguish a spirit protected by a Denomination of Origin, linked to a specific territory, raw material, and regulated production processes.

These gatherings also promote connections among producers, specialists, and representatives of the agroindustry, creating opportunities to exchange experiences and generate new opportunities for participating brands.

“A medal does not replace the work behind a brand, but it can help make its quality visible, build trust, and open commercial conversations. For Tequila, there is also an element that we must pay particular attention to: the Denomination of Origin, its international recognition and protection are a fundamental part of the value we have built as a category. That is why I believe it is particularly relevant that an international competition finds in Jalisco a space to evaluate spirits, exchange knowledge, and recognize quality,” said Villalpando Fonseca.

More than 300 brands are expected to participate in this edition, reflecting a dynamic and diverse spirits industry that is increasingly interested in having benchmarks that help distinguish its products.

Finally, the presentation of the Latin America World Spirits Competition 2027 brought together key stakeholders from the spirits industry, including María Bertha Becerra, representing the Tequila Regulatory Council; Alfredo Cachúa Torres, representing the Mexican Raicilla Promotion Council; Gustavo Staufert, from the Guadalajara Visitors and Convention Bureau; Carlos Alfonso Hernández Ramos, from Tequila La Cofradía; Víctor Martínez Quezada, from Grupo Suntory; and Ana Cristina Villalpando Fonseca, from the Chamber of the Tequila Industry (CNIT).
